It is a member of the Star Alliance as United Express.

It traces its origins to its founding as Resort Air in 1982 where it was eventually renamed Trans States Airlines in 1989. Its President and CEO is Richard A. Leach. He has been the airline’s COO since 1988 and its President since August 2003. Aside from his leadership position as CEO, he is also the Vice Chairman of the Regional Airline Association.
